These past 3 days have been busy busy busy with costume. It seems that we just realized next week is production week and we perform in 9 days!! (S**T)
I am no fan of surrealism, in fact, after this project I will probably hate it for life. You would think that because it is surrealism, you would be allowed to do anything you want but, NO. It seems like nothing we do is "surreal" enough... Well, what do they want us to do? We are already running around being monkeys and using balloons as breasts.... (You do not want to know)
The only thing I like about the play, The Breasts of Tiresias, is that it approaches feminism even before it existed. It questions the role of women in society and their rights. All of this in a very surreal way, of course.
Here are some pictures of what we've been working on. We were inspired by many things but mainly, by the fact that women were restricted, caged, trapped in a sexist society. We thought of corsets, crinoline, birds and, of course, breasts.
XOXO
