Happy Birthday...

Today is another of those days that, for some people, might just be yet another 13th of June but for me, it is a special date because it is Lucia's birthday. She turns 20 today. The BIG number. Leaving teenage years behind (what her parents wish...) but we all know she still has that cheeky little smile. And although she is living in the big city now (Madrid), she always remembers home and all the people that we've left there. She is a science girl (who can't remember our chemistry classes together....) who always wanted to be an astronaut; oh sorry, an astrophysic... She has a passion for cheese, she can eat it with anything, and when I say anything, I mean ANYTHING. She is not a very expressive girl, she doesn't like kisses or hugs or all that "cheesy stuff" so sometimes her rather icy character and my need for affection (hello, drama student here) clash; but she will be there for you whatever happens, whenever you need her.

From here I wish her a big Happy Birthday and promise that when we all reunite, we will throw her the party of the year that my neighbours will be talking about for the rest of their lifetimes.

Hoy es uno de esos días que para muchos será otro 13 de Junio cualquiera, pero para mí es una fecha especial porque es el cumpleaños de Lucía. Hoy cumple 20. El GRAN número. Dejando los años adolescentes atrás (O eso es lo que esperan sus padres...) pero todos sabemos que todavía tiene esa sonrisa pícara. Y aunque ahora vive en la gran ciudad (Madrid), siempre se acuerda de su casa y toda la gente que hemos dejado allí. Es una chica de ciencias (quién no recuerda nuestras clases de química juntas...) que siempre quiso ser astronauta; oh, perdón, astrofísica... Tiene pasión por el queso, puede comerlo con cualquier cosa y cuando digo cualquier cosa quiero decir CUALQUIER cosa. No es una chica muy expresiva, no le gustan los besos ni los abrazos ni todas esas cosas "caramelosas" y a veces, su carácter un poco brusco y mi necesidad de afecto (hola, estudiante de teatro aqui...) chocan; pero ella siempre está ahi para lo que quieras, cuando la quieras y la necesites. 

Desde aquí le deseo un Feliz Cumpleaños y le prometo que cuando todas nos reencontremos, le vamos a celebrar la fiesta del año, que mis vecinos la recordarán para el resto de sus días.
