This is my new artist discovery: Dawn Mellor.
I love her disturbing paintings of celebrities that somehow portray a different reality that the one we see every day (but I can't still get over the fact that she destroyed the face of one of my icons, Audrey...)

Last Wednesday was a very important day of my life. It was almost a rite of passage. When you are a kid you have this dreams, fantasies, but they usually never come true and as you grow older you start to forget.
When I was younger, I used to dream about being on the stage of the Royal Opera House. My mum and me would come down to London on the early train from Suffolk and spend the day here. For two or three hours, I would be seeing the ballet that was on at the time: Swan Lake, Giselle, The Sleeping Beauty, La Sylphide... and my mum would wait outside for me (I think we only went together once because the tickets are not exactly cheap....) I remember the excitement, the nerves as I went into the building, looking at the ridiculously overdressed women...
And 4 years later... I was finally on the stage of the Royal Opera House, Ok, maybe I wasn't dressed in a Swan tutu with an amazing tiara and a handsome prince by my side. I was surrounded by bits and pieces of set, men in overalls shouting everywhere... but I was still there. Everything seems so different once you see it from the inside. It is like a big BIG machine where everybody does their part in order for it to work. And everything is 10 times bigger than normal life. They have an elevator the size of a lorry for god's sake.....
And then there is the costume department..... Only the running wardrobe is bigger than my HOUSE! Rails and rails of beautiful gowns, suits, tutus.... Old sewing machines, irons, jars of buttons, a room full of textiles (they have about 20 different types of cotton) and lots and lots of mannequins.
When I grow up, I want to work there.
